Carissa Romero

Carissa Romero is a Laboratory Manager I on the VETSA study. She was born and raised in New Mexico, where she also earned her BA at University of New Mexico. Carissa is completing her MS degree in Clinical Psychology at New Mexico Highlands University and hopes to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology in the future. With a PhD, she plans to return to serve her community. Carissa’s research interests include Native American mental health, Native American neuropsychology, and trauma. She has presented at the Society of Indian Psychologists 2021 convention and published in Social Moments Journal. In her free time, Carissa enjoys hiking, beadwork, playing the violin and piano, and learning 2 languages. Carissa is also a proud pet parent of a wonderful Pitbull mix named Banana.
